This time, we dropped by Luminii while in Chicago to see what was new.
Extrusions
- New extrusions: designed in-house, extruded in USA.
- Available in up to 12FT lengths.
- New mounting options for recessed extrusions.
- Powder coating is done within 5 miles of the factory.
Assembly
- Workers assemble the whole fixture
- Corners are always shipped complete
- Leads withstand 50lbs of torque
Silicone
- For wet listed, delivered CCT is taken into account on the cut sheets, considering the color shift from the silicone.
- Still no 22K wet.
- New silicone formula will be clear layer + white layer and frosted lens will be removed.
Hardware
- New castings for mounting.
- Hidden hardware for round.
- New frame for step light.
- Local codes dictate need for jbox. NYC would not need one. Long leads or just class-2 connectors
Miscellaneous
- UL listed for Enlighted controls.
- Will help verify that longer fixtures will fit in the elevator. (They’ll ship an empty box!)
- They have a setup for new testing and creating IES files. Process takes about 2-3 days from time of request. Fixtures must be 4FT length.
- Light quality testing done in image below:
- Aging Chamber (32days = 5yrs in southern Florida weather)
- Tavan: lambertion or batwing. Curved corners or rectangle. Can do fewer supports than installed (8FT run)
- New 3000K offered soon with higher CRI and higher R9.
- Higher efficacy by end of year.
- Buy 2 bins, split each into 8 bins. Mostly only use 4 of those.
- They also do an eye test before going into production.
- Dimmer wall for testing!
- Potentiometer option needs to be UL listed. Would put it on the non-dim power supply.
- Driver option for hotels with quick connects and plug for plug-in applications. Side-menu!
