Lightheaded

Lightheaded stopped by our office with O’blaney Rinker. Overall, we were very impressed with the extensive offering of the Opus Family and the lead times: all housing, base plates, and trims ship immediately - and LED modules ship in 3 weeks.

3" Opus  – This is a full family of fixtures including wallwashers, and adjustable and fixed down lights with many different lumen packages and optic offerings. Other notable features: 

  • Max 3000lm;

  • Available in Static White and Warm Dim;

  • Patent pending ceiling clip that allows for ceiling thickness 1/16" - 1" <— the 1/16” allowance is impressive, and we’re often looking for options for thin metal ceilings!;

  • Interchangeable ceiling trims in square or round profile, attached with magnets;

  • There is a plate that adjusts with the tilt on adjustable fixtures to conceal the open housing beyond;

  • A adjustable downlight can become a wall washer in the field when set to the appropriate tilt marked on the fixture and supplied with the correct lens;

  • DN pricing: 

    • shallow fixed 2.5" housing -  $125 

    • Standard -  $150 

    • adjustable < $200 

2" Purist – This is a companion fixture to the Opus downlight with a smaller form factor. It offers all the other features listed above. 

  • Max 1500lm;

Minimalist – This is a family of multi-cell fixtures: downlight, adjustable, and wall washer.

  • Static White only;

  • Fixed down lights deliver up to 180lm per aperture;

  • Wall washer has the multicell appearance, unlike other competitors that offer short linear segments without louvers. However, this meant the fixture has fairly tight lateral spread. Recommended spacing is 30” off the wall and 18” on center (1:2 spacing);

  • Available in wet location, up 1000lm;

  • Multiple fixtures can connect to one driver;

  • DN Pricing 

    • single cell $50 

    • 3 cells $100 

LED Pipe – A family of fixed, adjustable, and wall washing cylinders of 1”, 3”, and 5” diameters.

  • Available in Static White and Warm Dim (same LEDs as the Opus family);

  • The adjustable version has a max 65deg tilt with an extender cover in the back to create one continuous body shape;

  • No visible hardware;

  • The pendant version offers an indirect up-light option;

  • We liked the white body with the silver trim because it is not a glare bomb, but looks white when the light is on

Also of note was the Guardian Line for tamper-resistant and anti-ligature situations < $200DN
